Teachers and Group Leaders!
Please be sure that all students entering the Robot Games are familiar with the Safety Concerns that are listed on this page.
Thanks...
Before registering in the 2009 Manitoba Robot Games
It is important that ALL entrants, helpers, coaches and advisors
are fully aware of the following safety issues.
SAFETY CONCERNS we have identified in previous years
* Unsecured electrical wires stretched across walkways are a trip and fall accident waiting to occur.
* Battery chargers connected to robot batteries in the open where liquids could be spilt on them or they could be knocked over.
* The pit areas made available at the Robot Games venues are no place for large cutting or grinding tools. These tools can be considered dangerous in a proper shop setting but in the close quarters offered by the Robot Games it is a safety nightmare.
* Unattended soldering irons left plugged in, are a potential fire hazards or waiting for a potential burn victim.
* Individuals using knives inappropriately ie: cutting with the blade coming towards fingers or other body parts, instead of cutting away from you.
* Robots sitting on the floor in walkways both in the Pit Area and in the Competition Area causing potential trip and fall accidents as well as damage to a competition robot before it ever reaches a ring.
* Food and drink containers left sitting all around the pit areas look untidy but also can cause a hazard when a drink container left sitting on a table gets knocked over close to live electrical appliances.
* Harmless horseplay is no big deal in a gym or at the park but a push in a crowded pit area could cause serious damage to someone else’s competition robot, cause someone to fall on a hot soldering iron, or spill liquid on a power tool or electrical appliance.
* Safety glasses are a pain to remember, but not half as painful as damaged eyes.
SAFETY IS RESPONSIBILITY

work safely and ensure the safety of others
at all times.
